I sank to the floor and cried. An adult isn’t supposed to cry over people she’s never met, but when such a singular loss hits the nation, you mourn as if it were kith and kin. I felt perhaps like Don McLean did when he penned American Pie. Indeed, it was the day the music died.

And so this fateful day in June will dampen forever all future weddings and will add a tinge of regret to any sunny day from now on. Children’s laughter will ring somewhat hollow, and the clouds will appear darker when they bedeck the sky. At night the stars will seem to dim, even though we know among them he will dance.

And so it was today that Blanca’s heart sank a little lower when the Minnesota Supreme Court announced in a unanimous decision that Al Franken had indeed won the 2008 senatorial election and that he would be taking his place in the Senate chamber next week as Senator Franken, MN-D.

Oh the humanity.

So Blanca has decided that this may be a good time for a little reset, a three finger salute, if you will. July marks the third anniversary of the Blanca DeBree Blog, and it seems like a fitting time to retool. Big changes are coming as part of Blanca 3.0. There will be new content, some of it racy.

Taking a hint from my good pal Bill O’Reilly, I’ve decided to add some regular features to my blog, because, as Fox News and perverts know, sex sells. And as long as you deride it as evil, it is ok to show it. Over and over again.

So as part of this retooling, the Blanca DeBree blog will be moving. To prepare youself, you should get used to using the new address: BlancaDeBree.com.

So for the next couple of weeks the updates will be less regular than normal, as I work with my staff–actually it’s Glenn Beck’s staff–to make the new Blanca 3.0 even more exciting. I know you will like it, because whenever I play with Glenn Beck’s staff, he leaves a happy man. Of course I have to dress like a boy scout and say things like “are you sure this is the way to earn my merit badge, Scout Master?”

Please keep coming back, and if you have any ideas for the new blog, please leave them here. Think of this as one of those Fox News segments, You Decide. And just like on FoxNation.com, if I don’t like any of the crap you suggest, I’ll just delete it. That’s democracy in action!

Although Coleman and his hair refused to admit defeat, filing with the Minnesota Supreme Court to change the method in which absentee ballots were to be accepted, there is dwindling hope that the former mayor of Saint Paul can hold onto his Senate seat.

Republicans are threatening to filibuster any early seating of Franken with the 111th Congress until the election has been certified by the Secretary of State, DFL Mark Ritchie. If the Republicans are successful in the filibuster, that will leave the Democrats two seats short of their 59 vote majority in the United States Senate when the new congress convenes next week.

Norm Coleman won the Senate seat in 2002 after a highly contested race ended with DFL incumbent Paul Wellstone’s death in a tragic plane crash. At the last moment, Walter Mondale, Democratic Presidential candidate in 1984, stepped in to replace Wellstone.

Rush Limbaugh turned Wellstone’s memorial into a political opportunity, claiming that it was an orchestrated event, designed to maintain the seat for the Democrats. Al Franken never forgave Rush Limbaugh for this. Franken penned the book Rush Limbaugh Is a Big Fat Idiot and Other Observations in 1996.

Unless Coleman can convince the Minnesota Supreme Court to intervene, his tenure as the sole Republican Senator from the North Star State has come to an end. Even if the election is not certified next week, Democrats have already stated they will take away Coleman’s offices on Capitol Hill.

Al Franken has won, becuase the was good enough, smart enough, and gosh darnit, people liked him.

First they tried to steal the Presidential election in 2000 by giving more votes to Al Gore, then they tried to steal the election in 2004 by having lots and lots of people wait in lines and complain about a lack of voting machines in Ohio. In 2006 they stole the whole election by making sure every person winning got more votes, and then cleverly prevented a recount by going back in time and forcing the Republican-controlled state legislatures to adopt paperless voting machines. And now in 2008 we have probably the worst attempt to steal an election in the North Star State.

The Democrats are attempting to steal the Senate seat for funny man-turned-political-pundit-turned-politician Al Franken in the most nefarious way. They are counting the votes!

Those thieving bastards!

It seems the Democrats have uncovered an obscure law, which has never been used, to force a recount in the election. How devious using laws against us. We would never do that!

This is just the latest in the Democratic shenanigans, using the ballot box to promote democracy instead of using the bullet, which is the preferred method. If this kind of thing continues, we will become a nation ruled by the people and not by big business and rich white guys. Now what kind of a nation will that be? Not one I want to live in. And I am sure my Republican friends agree with me. And they would be sure to tell you if they’re mouths weren’t full of trucker penis they found at the rest stop off Interstate 80.

We won’t know the results of this recount until well into December. With both sides contesting over 4,000 ballots, this will not be resolved by the actual recount, but will end with the final canvassing board meeting in St. Paul next month.

With Coleman leading by just 215 at the beginning of the recount, and the numbers going back and forth, it is unclear who will prevail.

But I am sure if those nasty Democrats have their way and listen to the “voice” of the people, we will soon be calling Al Senator Franken and Norm Mr. K Street.

Some polls are saying the race is tightening. Others show that Obama has a comfortable lead. Early voters are overwhelmingly Democratic. Huge numbers of African Americans and young voters are turning up early to vote for Obama, which begs the question.

In a poll, which uses likely voters, what exactly do they do with people who have already voted? Are they being counted as likely voters? If they are not, then are the numbers becoming more skewed as we get closer to election day as more and more people have already voted?

The Democrats have still to take advantage of our beloved Leader’s falling approval.

Bill O’Reilly recently had a typical rant, showing a clip from Norm Coleman (R-MN), an incumbent running against satirist Al Franken (D). Coleman’s attack ad shows a fomenting Franken, railing against the Republicans, bleeped obscenities and all. But maybe Norm is not paying attention.

Mr. Coleman has an R after his name. If you don’t believe me, just look at that paragraph above. Right before a two-letter abbreviation representing his state, in this case Minnesota, there is the consonant R. Now I don’t mean to move too quickly for those of you who never finished the Sesame Street series, but that means he is a Republican.

Right now Republicans are about as popular as jock itch or genital warts. Actually, I think both jock itch and genital warts have a higher approval rating. Some just like the burn.

Coleman shows Franken screaming at Republicans as if this is an anathema in a year when some states are seriously considering issuing hunting licenses for Republican Congressmen. On the contrary, to show someone calling Republicans a bunch of mother fucking assholes is probably going to get him elected in a heartbeat.

After taking this country down the road to ruin, Norm Coleman wants to make Al Franken look unhinged. Excuse me, Mr. I Rape My Own Children Nightly, but that just isn’t going to fly this political season.

OK. I don’t have proof that Norm Coleman rapes his children. And I really can’t state definitively that he cooks puppies on his barbeque grill. Sure, I have no evidence he likes to masturbate over pictures of the Virgin Mary. But I don’t need proof, because some people say he does. How many? I have no idea. But at least one does. And by the end of the day, I am sure many more will.

Mr. Coleman would be wise to take my advice and pretend that he is not a Republican this year. Make an ad, showing you agreeing with Franken, screaming epithets against Republicans, claiming they have no shame, and that as a staunch opponent of Republicans, you have always been against whatever shit they are for on the day you run the ad.

Otherwise you are screwed. I mean after murdering your parents and fucking their corpses, how can you expect to run for Congress? What, you didn’t do such a thing? Well, just look at the sentence up above. It says you did. And if there is one thing I have learned from Fox News, as long as “some people say,” then it gets airplay.

Did I mention you pimped out handicapped children to buy crack? No? Well, now it’s in black and white.

Shit.

I know. This may sound hypocritical or at least unhinged, but I assure you, there is method to my madness. Please calm down. Blanca has not drunk from the Kool-Aid.
You see, Norm Coleman seems very confident that a run against Al is an assured win. I agree! What does Al have that Norm doesn’t have? Both are Jews. Both are unattractive. Both are wonky. But Norm has the powerful Jesus on his side and the almost as powerful Bush.

But even if Norm loses, that will help to eliminate another bad moderate Republican, like Olympia Snowe, Arlen Specter, and Susan Collins. I am willing to put up with four years of Al Franken in order to get a real Republican after him, not just a HIPPO (He’s In the Pparty Only). You know Blanca. If there is one thing I am consistent on, it is my lack of support for moderate Republicans. And flip floppers. And people who believe in abortion and gays.

Yes, with Norm out of the way, our party has more room for real Republicans like John McCain and Rudy Giuliani. Good luck, Al. Either way, we win.

Anyone that cute has to be up to something. I always suspected him of running a drug ring out of the Keaton’s basement. I always expected the police to come crashing through the front door at any minute and haul them all away to jail. Not that those hippy bastard parents wouldn’t deserve to get locked up for being such freakin’ liberals, but I wouldn’t want anything to happen to my adorable, Republican Alex. Wait a minute, I think that kid’s name was Skippy. Who cares. The only person I hated more than him was that damn Urkel. But I digress.

I couldn’t believe what I was seeing today. Scooter was trying to implicate our wonderful Vice President and the brilliant, if all too pudgy, Karl Rove. Like I have said before, there is something about a corpulent, balding, political mastermind. Myself, I would do Henry Kissinger in a minute if he weren’t a damn Kraut! Yeah, I know what you’re thinking. What about Arnold? Well, he’s not a Kraut. He’s an Austrian. Nothing bad ever came out of Austria. Just ask the folks in the Sudetenland.

Why can’t Libby just bend over and take one for the team and like it, just like my three ex-husbands. Actually, I think my three exes liked it a little too much, if you know what I mean. That is why they are now my ex-husbands. Damn, I’m digressing again. Ok, Blanca, stay focussed.

It’s just that I’m so steamed. First it was Brownie running around trying to blame the whole Katrina thing on Bush and Rove, and now it’s Libby trying to hang the blame on Bush for what he did, all by himself, without any help, completely solo, all alone. He’s acting just like the third grader who gets cornered at the science fair and is grilled into admitting his dad helped him with the volcano model. Maybe that’s not the best analogy. Damn, I am just not on my game lately.

I can see the wagons circling now. Not even the brilliance of our Commander-in-President-Chief tonight at the State of the Union can wash away this awful feeling of impending doom I have. What will happen if Scooter implicates Rove or even Cheney? What will Bush do without his number 2? What will he do for a replacement? We all know how hard it is to find and keep a number 2. Just ask Al Queda.

Scooter better watch what he says. We all know what happens to people about to turn state’s evidence on the Bush Adminnistration. I have just two words for you. Ken Lay. If Scooter knows what’s good for him, he will get a sudden case of amnesia. Watch a couple of episodes of “As the World Turns” for some pointers on how it’s done. Scooter, don’t go singing like a Dreamgirl. I have just one last bit of sage wisdom for you. To quote Madeline Kahn in “Young Frankenstein,” “you better keep your big mouth shut!”

Keith Olbermann is the worst person alive. He is just vile. I can’t believe how terrible he is.

Every night this Syphilis continues his perpetual rant against all that is just and right.

If you ever doubted how bad this man is, he has appeared on Air America with Randi Rhodes, who is about as evil as Al Franken or Rachel Maddow.

But the best reason to hate him is that he has been attacking my future husband, Bill O’Reilly. He has lied about things Bill O’Reilly supposedly said on his show. But there is never any evidence.

So anyone who attacks my loofah lover is the worst person on the planet.

Oh, I just can’t get into my usual liberal bashing tonight. Things are not going well. Things, in fact, are going very poorly for Republicans and for my beloved President-in-Chief, George W. “Two Terms” Bush. In fact people just aren’t getting the BeJesus scared out of them anymore when we learn about a new terrorist alert. In fact, some of these Macacas are even making fun of the easy-to-understand color-coded alert system jointly developed by President George W. Bush, Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, and Mrs. Miller’s morning pre-kindergarten class at PS 192.

You see it appears that George W. Bush is not getting any kind of bounce from the whole liquids on airplanes terror alert. Sure, the guy responsible for those terrible poll numbers is that Arab liberal Zogby, but I still feel blue, I mean read. I just hope that tomorrow he will get the well-deserved boost he needs from the new snakes on airplane terror alert. But that is the subject of another blog.
